- Sign a contract to buy or build a new home between 20 November 2023 and 30 June 2025 (inclusive), or
- Are owner-builders who lay the foundations for their home during the same period.
An "owner-builder" is someone who builds their own home or oversees construction without engaging a single builder responsible for the entire project.
Who Is Eligible?
To qualify for the FHOG in Queensland, you must meet the following conditions:
- Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident;
- Be at least 18 years of age;
- Purchase or build a brand-new home that has never been previously occupied or sold;
- Move into the home within 12 months of completion and live there for a minimum of six continuous months.
Note: Existing properties, renovated homes, or previously tenanted homes are not eligible under this grant.
How to Apply
There are two main ways to apply for the First Home Buyers Grant:
- Through your lender when applying for a home loan; or
- Directly via the Queensland Revenue Office.
You’ll need to provide supporting documents such as:
- Proof of identity (e.g., passport or driver’s license),
- Signed purchase or building contracts,
- Proof of residency intentions.

In addition to the FHOG, the Queensland Government offers stamp duty concessions:
- If the home is valued at under $800,000, first home buyers may be eligible for stamp duty exemptions or discounts;
